Specialist thermal protection: manufacturer lists ANSI/ISEA 105-2024 contact-heat Level 4 and palm resistance to 662°F (350°C), plus A7 cut resistance.

Limitations, reviews & evidence for HexArmor HeatArmor 5065 welding gloves

Limit: Not verified for safe handling of deployed canisters or flares. ANSI Level 4 is not EN407 contact-heat Level 4 (500°C). Product and collection pages show conflicting prices and availability; confirm the quote, stock and intended application.

Review evidence: Manufacturer rating supports a thermal-protection claim within test conditions; no independent canister-handling validation found.

EYE PROTECTION: NAME THE HAZARD

Chemical splash is a real rating. Gas-tight is a different claim.

The expanded eye selection includes the MCR 2237R, Uvex Stealth S3960HS and Pyramex Capstone Shield. The latter two have explicit manufacturer chemical-splash documentation. D3 indicates splash protection; D4 and D5 address dust and fine dust. None of these goggles establishes gas/vapor tightness.

For integrated eye and breathing protection against CS/CN, the documented option remains the properly fitted Avon PC50 + CTCF50 assembly. A face shield alone has open edges. Fit goggles, helmet and respirator together; do not break a face seal with straps or glasses.

SPECIALIST HEAT / SOURCED ANSWER

What high-heat gloves can actually establish

Professional thermal gloves are substantially different from thin work or examination gloves. HeatArmor 5065 and Dragon Fire X2S are now listed as specialist options; neither is a verified safe-canister-handling system.

Canister combustion temperature is not exterior shell temperature. In one 2002 study, three CS canisters reached internal maximum temperatures of 725, 779 and 890°C (mean 798°C). These measurements are not exterior shell temperatures. A reliable universal shell temperature or cooling time was not established in this review. Orion also identifies severe-burn hazards from flare flame and liquid ash.

Thermal glove claims and test limits
Claim or standardWhat it meansWhat it does not mean
EN407 contact heatLevels 1/2/3/4 use 100/250/350/500°C test surfaces, with a controlled threshold of at least 15 seconds to a 10°C rise across the specimen.A safe holding time. Flame, radiation, molten splash and chemical resistance are different tests.
ANSI/ISEA 105 heat Level 4HeatArmor 5065 lists 662°F / 350°C palm contact-heat resistance under this separate standard.EN407 Level 4. The two rating systems must not be interchanged.
Structural firefighter glovesDragon Fire states NFPA1971:2018 certification. Thermal/moisture layers serve a professional firefighting role.A chemical-munitions qualification. Moisture, pressure and stored heat can still cause burns.
BBQ-glove advertisingOne HeatShield glove is certified at 250°C; its higher 500°C claim is a separate internal test.Suitability for flames, molten material or hot wet objects—the maker excludes these uses.

Contact pressure, duration, glove condition, moisture and the exposed area all matter. No listed glove addresses every hazard from a deployed device. Leave deployed canisters alone and move away from exposure.

The manufacturer lists EN407 contact-heat Level 3 (350°C). A qualifying U.S. small-supplier price and availability were not verified, so it is a research alternative rather than a priced kit item.

OPTIONAL BODY PROTECTION

Useful for defined impacts. Not a universal shield.

Motorcycle garments and sport pads can offer documented impact or abrasion protection within their test scope. An armored shirt, elbow guards, pocket inserts and kneeling pads are different products with different coverage.

EN1621 addresses motorcycle impact protectors; EN17092 addresses motorcycle garments; EN14404 addresses kneeling-work protection. A higher number or a tactical appearance does not establish protection from bullets, blades or crowd-control projectiles. Chest/back armor is not included with every armored shirt.

Our recommendation is to keep body gear optional and fit it to the person’s role. Check pad retention, full movement, walking endurance and heat burden. Loose inserts, heavy vests and unverified “riot gear” can add cost without an established protection claim.

The respiratory decision

RESPIRATORY EQUIPMENT: QUOTE ONLY. These are research candidates, not a confirmed protective kit. Confirm the exact approved mask/filter assembly, contents, sizing, shelf life, civilian purchase eligibility, stock and complete cost with the supplier. Medical evaluation and fit testing are separate steps required by this guide before reliance.

Respiratory systems and evidence
SystemWhat the evidence supportsDecision for this draft
N95 / P100 particle filterParticles; gases and vapors require appropriate additional filtration.N95 appears in baseline kits for particulate/infection protection. Never label it a complete chemical-agent system.
3M 7500 + 60926A reputable reusable industrial respirator and multigas/P100 cartridge. The 60926 published hazard list does not explicitly establish a CS/CN approval.Comparison only. Half mask also needs separate eye protection. Mask alone listed at $46.88; filters extra.
3M 6000DIN + CP3NManufacturer documents specific responder assemblies; requires correct DIN components and nose cup.A possible lower-cost quote alternative. Do not attach a CP3N to an ordinary 6800 without verifying the approved assembly. Stock and complete price unresolved.
Avon PC50 + CTCF50Manufacturer documents non-CBRN CS/CN/P100 approval. Most clearly documented targeted candidate found. Retail kit contents, sizing, fit and sale eligibility need confirmation.
Avon C50 + specified filtersDifferent approval applies to each combination; CTCF50 gives riot-control protection, CBRNCF50 gives CBRN approval.Higher-cost alternative if broader protection is required. Buying a C50 alone does not establish filter protection.

No air-purifying respirator supplies oxygen. These options do not make an unknown, oxygen-deficient or immediately dangerous atmosphere safe. Leaving exposure remains the priority. Obtain medical clearance before reusable-respirator use, pass an appropriate fit test for your exact model and size, and perform the prescribed seal check each time. A strap tug is not a fit test. Read the full respiratory conditions.

What reviews can—and cannot—tell us

Manufacturer specifications and approval documentation establish a product’s stated performance scope. Independent reviews help assess comfort, handling and durability. Merchant stars mainly describe customer experience.

The Verge’s 2026 gas-mask article supplies useful field experience on Parcil, MIRA and 3M products. It is not a controlled certification test. Its non-NIOSH options do not displace a documented approved combination here. OutdoorGearLab tests climbing helmets, which is useful for fit and durability but cannot establish protection against crowd-control weapons.
